Craving a Nomadic Life

Have you ever had an experience that has solidified an idea that you never considered a possibility? An idea that once planted, established roots, grew tall and bloomed to perfection?

If Connecticut has taught me anything, it’s that I’m done being stuck in a permanent residence. I’m the type of person that has to have her schedule all mapped out, and it’s time to get out of my comfort zone. Imagine the freedom to come and go as you please, no morning alarms set, no packed agenda.

The Wild Woman in me is craving the ability to pick up and leave for a day, a week, months. I want to escape whenever I want, without paying an arm and a leg for somewhere to stay each time.

In one year, my little family and I will pick up and, (Universe willing,) move across the country to Washington. While the idea of having a permanent home there sounds picturesque, I realized that during my beloved’s deployments, I don’t want to be tied down and alone. My first thought was, “I could rent an RV to visit my friends and family while my beloved is gone.”

Somehow I stumbled on #VanLife

What would you do if you could go anywhere and take your home and your faves with you? If the open road was your playground and your getaway car was your dwelling place?

WTF is #VanLife

The easiest way to explain it is, people take a van, strip it and convert it to a home on wheels. That involves insulating the entire thing, hooking up solar panels, adding kitchen sinks and a stove, a bed, and sometimes a couch. Some live in their van solo, with a spouse, and/or with a pet. And then they travel the world. Its incredible.

My VanLife Inspirations

Max, Lee and Occy

He’s Australian, She’s Canadian, and he’s… well… a dog. This couple travels all over the world with their pup in a van. They were my first discovery to the world of Van Conversion.

The Nomadic Movement

When Jordan was laid off from his job, he and Kaylee decided to live out their dream. They sold most of their belongings, bought a short bus and took to the open road. Their story features the process of the bus conversion and all of their adventures.

Wild by the Mile

Liz Bryant is a solo traveler that went from news reporter to full-time vanlifer. She’s pretty badass.

Top reasons from The Nomadic Movement to choose the VanLife

  1. If you don’t do it, you will regret it.
  2. Much better understanding of the world.
  3. Move past your comfort zone.
  4. You can work later.
  5. You have all the time in the world.

**Our Nomadic Timeline**

This Month

While I would love to purchase a Mercedes Sprinter van like Liz and completely remake it, I have to find a different route. Next week, we are buying a Jeep. That will be our main ride when the time comes to travel.

The Next 6 Months

We’ve decided to go with the Travel Trailer option for a few reasons:

  1. We want to be able to detach our living space for quick errands when we stop somewhere,
  2. More space for our little family.
  3. Less money that a van conversion.

The trailer that I’ve found and fallen in love with is almost $8K. I plan on making that money before the end of Summer.

Fall of 2019

With big plans and lots of distance in our future, we want to master a few short distance adventures. Here’s what we’re thinking:

  • Vermont
  • Maine
  • Montreal
  • Cape Cod, MA

January 2020

We move out of our apartment and embark on a 1 month journey across the country. A few stops along the way:

  • Nashville
  • Atlanta
  • New Orleans
  • Denver
  • Vail, AZ (family)
  • San Diego
  • San Luis Obispo, CA (friends)
  • Yosemite National Park
  • Tahoe, CA
  • Northern Nevada
  • Anywhere in Oregon
  • End in Bremerton, WA

While these stops wont be set in stone, most of them are at the top of our lists for exploring. I can’t wait to keep you updated on our progress!

What would be your top places to visit on a drive across the US?

Would you ever consider living the Nomad/ Van Life?

New Year // New Rituals

2019 is going to be a big year for personal and spiritual growth. I can feel that in my bones.

The last two years of my life in CT, I’ve actively avoided finding a tribe of woman, because I know living here will only last three years. Whats the point of developing a sisterhood when I will just have to let them go? But deep down, I know I’m doing myself and any potential new friends, a huge disservice. So I’m focusing on putting out into the Universe that I’m ready for some connection. I’m ready for a sense of community and a chance to create moments of growth and sisterhood.

One of my dreams, if I had that tribe, would be to start the ritual of a monthly Full Moon party. While the New Moon is my favorite phase, it’s also a phase of introspection and laying low. Not the best for a tribe of women gathering and celebrating and getting rowdy together.

This is the blueprint for a Full Moon ritual, so gather all your favorite strong, independent, brilliant women together and have a night of fun.

Getting to Know the Phases

First things first, for those of you new to the ways of Mother Moon, here is a brief explanation of each phase:

  • New moons are a time to set intentions. Create, reset, regenerate.
  • Waxing moons are a good time to take action—big or small—toward your dream.
  • Full moons are a time to manifest and celebrate.
  • Waning moon is a time for releasing. Clear and let go to prepare for the new moon once again.

What you’ll need

  • A private indoor or outdoor area for the ceremony.
  • Floor cushions or chairs in a circle.
  • An area for an altar.
  • Crystals.
  • Sage, Palo Santo or Singing Bowls.
  • Pens and Paper
  • Music or Instruments.
  • Candles for each woman

The Invitation

How do you phrase to your favorite women that they are cordially invited to a night of lunacy? Well, whether they are into woowoo or not, everyone loves a chance to get together, talk about intentions, dance, laugh, and let go of what no longer serves them.

Be sure to have them bring a list of their intentions for the next month, an item for the altar, and a crystal they are comfortable parting with.

Wear white, silver or blue. Leave your hair down, what better way to tap into your wild maiden than to let your locks flow freely?

The Event

Cleanse the space

With your guests sensitivities in mind, be sure to break up any negative or stagnant energy by clearing the space. This can be done with Sage, Palo Santo wood or Singing bowls.

Have a special area set up to place all items of importance from your guests. They can be crystals, jewelry, trinkets, anything that they would like charged with the intentions of the night. Once you’ve explained the purpose of your gathering, allow them to place them, without speaking, where they are drawn intuitively. Set the crystals worth letting go near the alter as well.

A moment for intentions

Once all objects are placed, with everyone seated comfortably, take a moment to look at your list of intentions. Imagine that you’ve manifested them, how does it feel, what does it look like, how does it smell? The more details you visualize, the more the Universe can assist.

Guided Meditation

Pick a guided meditation that would compliment the vibe of the evening. Two meditations I love are the Connecting to Abundance, and Flow State from this blog post. They are both on Simple Habit, but you can find other amazing meditations on Spotify, Apple Music, or YouTube.

Take some time to share your struggles and triumphs. Be open minded with the women that share, this is a moment to bond and support each other. Discuss your hopes for the month and the current year. Be uplifting, vulnerable, witty. All in all, be you.

I love to dance! I love to move my body and invoke my inner Wild Maiden, letting my hair fly around, and my arms wave wildly. This is a judgement free zone. If you have drums or instruments, let the women come up with whatever sounds they want. Take turns dancing in the circle like you’re alone in your room. Laugh at yourself! This is a moment of celebration and joy. Be joyful, you deserve it.

Crystal Claiming

The Universe has a way of giving us what we need when we need it. Let each woman approach the alter and pick a crystal, (that is not theirs) that speaks to them intuitively. Go with your gut. You might choose it because it’s your favorite color or it feels welcoming. Be sure to research what the crystal represents.

Now is the time to commend the vulnerability and compassion displayed. Thank them with one last task. Everyone takes a candle, and one by one have them light the candle to the left. This moment can mean so much more if each takes the opportunity to tell the woman who’s candle they are lighting, what the admire about them.

What you choose to do after the ritual is done, is up to you. Have glass of wine with your tribe, continue the dance party, take pictures to capture the experience, howl at the moon. There is no wrong way to embrace this experience. Just know, you’ve made some wonderful memories with the women in your circle.

In one year, when my little family and I move hopefully back to the West Coast, my dream of making Moss and Moonstone a brick and mortar will finally happen. The best part about that dream? Having a space to host Full Moon parties with brilliant women in the community.

I’ll be sure to keep you posted on that. Thanks for stopping by.

6 Meditations I Brought into 2019

2019, I have been waiting for you to arrive since…. last March….

Fresh starts have always been what I live for. No matter what happens in my life, I know I can look forward to a new day, a new week, a new book, a New Moon. And it’s like the past never happened.

One practice that I was really terrible at sticking to in 2018 was meditation. In 2017, I was great at it! I woke up every morning, meditated, journaled and hit the gym.

Then life got crazy and I lost that habit and shortly after, I lost my peace of mind. Regardless, I fully intend on making meditation my priority. I’m getting back to WooSahhing.

If you are new to meditation, this is a great place to start. With the help of an amazing app called Simple Habit, here are the meditations I brought into 2019

Connect to Abundance by Julie Seibt

We can all use more abundance in our life, and it isn’t always money we need an abundance of. This meditation is great for helping you open the door for all types of abundances.

“Attract and receive abundance in health, relationships, finances and opportunity. In this practice, recognize and connect to abundance that is already present, explore obstacles that prevent you from giving and receiving more fully. You will learn to invite, receive and embody abundance as part of the natural flow of life”

Bath Meditation by Kate James

I tend to get distracted in the bath, but this helps me to be mindful and present. It is amazing for winding down at the end of a long day.

“A warm bath is the perfect way to relax and relive stress. Meditate while immersing your body in hot water to soften any tension.”

Bedtime Relaxation with Amer Khan

It can be difficult to turn our mind off at night. This is great for doing just that.

“Let worries about work or your day fall away. Use this meditation to help  you sink into ultimate relaxation for sleep.”

Resilience for Women by Shalini Bahl (7 Part Series)

We as women are so strong, we keep our families grounded while juggling career or hobbies. Sometimes we need a pick me up.

“This is a meditation series created for women by a woman. In this series, you will build skills to deal with different challenges. Explore different mindfulness practices that are foundational for developing confidence, resilience and ease.

For Women in the Workplace by Shalini Bahl (7 Part Series)

I already know we all need this one.

“In this series, develop the 7 essential mindfulness skills to overcome stereotypes, lead from within, and shine.

Women often confront incompatible expectations with respect to their leadership roles and gender roles. Research shows that mindfulness is one way for us women to overcome gender stereotypes and inconsistencies. Mindful women leaders are perceived to be more genuine and trustworthy. And most importantly, mindfulness makes us aware of how we perceive ourselves, so we can lead from a place of authenticity and unshakable confidence.”

Flow State by Holly Niemela

Having issues with blockages? Get ready to welcome the state of flow.

“Being in a state of flow often helps us be more present, get more work done, and feel a sense of timelessness. Whether you’d like some inspiration for a creative project, or are preparing for a few hours of deep work, this meditation will help you get into your flow state.”

I hope these meditations are what you are needing for a happy and healthy year/ life.

What are your favorite guided meditations you can’t wait to bring in to 2019?

Sensuality as an Act of Self Care

This post is inspired by Daily OM and Souk Bohemian (images featured)

Take a moment to close your eyes and thank your body for everything it does for you. Remember that it loves you and deserves your gratitude.

There are days when I ask myself, “When did I first feel shame in my nakedness? When did loving my body become an act of rebellion?”

If you’ve been on my blog recently, you are probably familiar with my 2019 Intention, reconnecting with the Feminine Divine. Part of my journey towards that intention is tapping into my own sensuality.

I first lost ownership of my body in my late teens. I was raised in a pretty religious home with parents that granted me the freedom and belief that I could be and do anything I wanted. I danced, I played piano and guitar, and I loved art. It was, however, religious authorities that caused me the most harm during an impressionable time of my life. I did as teenagers do, rebelling and falling for the boys I should steer clear from, and I was punished for it. Not all religious environments lay the foundation for shame, but mine did.  The moments I felt happiest with my body and sexuality were in rebellious acts to spite those authorities.

Its taken a lot of therapy in self reflection to see that the foundation of shame has shaped how I still see myself and my love of sexuality as shameful. So I’m doing something about it.

While bathes are my favorite form of Self Care, I’ve been focusing on allowing myself the space to embrace my sensuality. That has involved really digging deep and re-writing my story.

A Ritual for Releasing Shame

The most important task to start the re-writing of my story, was allowing myself to release the shame that has felt like an anvil on my chest. That shame impacted my relationship with my husband, my views of self pleasure, and any love I could muster for my own body. The following is a ritual by Deonesea La Fey, it allowed me to cut ties with the shame that has weighed me down for years.

Get into your comfy spot, light your candle, take a few deep breaths and relax. Now, as you begin to inhale more deeply, feel for the places in yourself where you are holding shame. Let your mind wander until it settles on a memory of a time when you felt deeply ashamed about your sensuality or sexuality. Let the memory come fully into your mind and feel the feeling of shame as deeply as you can in this moment. Notice how you experience the feeling of shame in your body…is it a sickening feeling in the pit of your belly, is it a contraction in your belly or your genitals, is it a tightening of your neck and shoulders, is it a flushing of heat across your face? Just notice how the feeling of shame shows up as a body sensation for you…and continue to feel it. Keep breathing and stay with the feeling as long as you can. Imagine the feeling as coming in like a wave in the ocean…it is coming stronger and stronger until it fully washes over you, and once it is fully felt, it will begin to recede and fade.

Now, see yourself as far bigger than this feeling. Imagine that your body sits inside of your spirit being, your Higher Self, your I Am presence…whatever set of words you use to name your soul. It is surrounding your body and now encompasses the memory and the shame you have been feeling through this ritual. Your Higher Self can breathe love into the pain. Simply imagine that you inhale into your Higher Self so that your breath fills your lungs AND fills the entire space of your energy body that is surrounding your physical body. Continue to breathe deeply in this way and see the air filling your lungs and aura with a soft pink glow. Imagine that this glow can wash away the feelings and sensations of shame, filling you now with peace and the feeling of being comfortable in your own skin. Continue to breathe in this way until you feel completely at ease.

When you have reached a place of comfort and peace, take a few moments to wiggle your toes and fingers, stand up and stretch a bit. And now record your experience in your journal.

Getting Honest with Myself

There is a specific narrative that goes through my head when I start craving a life full of sensuality. It is full of shouldn’ts.

I shouldn’t think about sensuality.
I should wear clothing that shows my curves.
I shouldn’t enjoy self pleasure.
I shouldn’t feel so comfortable with intimacy.

But I love everyone of those things. I should, I should I should….

I’ve been taking a course with DailyOM for Unleashing Your Authentic Sensuality. These statements are from a journal entry I wrote during the 3rd lesson:

When I imagine myself feeling sensuous and experiencing my own pleasure, what I see is a girl embracing her true identity. Sensuality isn’t something to be looked down upon. It’s uplifting and empowering. It allows you to connect with the Divine Feminine because you are feeling, and experiencing. You are closer to the goddesses that came before you, you are channeling them in an act of love and passion.

If I were to give myself permission to do something I always tell myself I couldn’t possibly do (but I secretly REALLY want to), I would Pole Dance. Erotic movement has always been an obsession of mine. I would take pole dancing and aerial silks class. I would dress like a dancer and throw myself about, letting pure joy and my ability to be graceful take control. I would honor my body by moving it in a way that taps into my sensuality. We all deserve to express ourselves in any form we like, I love erotic movement.

If I could create a space in my bedroom or in a special space in my home as an altar for my sensuous self it would look like a love letter to my Yoni. It would have various crystal Yoni wands. Polaroids of my softest places, like the rolls in my belly. Stones that connect to femininity like Moonstone, or self love like Rose Quartz. The words of Poets, like Warsan Shire:

“You are a horse running alone
and he tries to
tame you
compares you to an impossible highway
to a burning house
says you are
blinding him
that he could never leave you
forget you
want anything but you
you dizzy him, you are unbearable
every woman before or after you
is doused in your name
you fill his mouth
his teeth ache with memory of taste
his body just a long shadow seeking yours
but you are always too intense
frightening in the way you want him
unashamed and sacrificial
he tells you that no man can live up to the one who
lives in your head
you tried to change didn’t you?
closed your mouth more
tried to be softer
less volatile, less awake
but even when sleeping you could feel
him traveling away from you in his dreams
so what did you want to do love
split his head open?
you can’t make homes out of human beings
someone should have already told you that
and if he wants to leave
then let him leave
you are terrifying
and strange and beautiful
something not everyone knows how to love.
Warsan Shire

My altar would be an explosion of color, because that is what lives in side me.

A Pledge to My Sensuality

These are the moments I acknowledge my sensuality:

In the bath, I take time to look at the curves of my body and the way the water caresses them. The small rolls I have, I acknowledge the smoothness in my skin and express gratitude for their beauty.

Though my arms aren’t as toned as they used to be, they are strong. I express gratitude as they lift my body on the silks. Their strength allows me to feel as though I’m flying as they help me elevate and invert.

The thighs I usually chastise for their lack of definition, when a silk is locked around them, I feel as though I am levetated. They let me look graceful as I back bend and twist in the air. They let me look like a suspended ballerina.

In the place of my need for strength, I now only crave to be graceful. There is so much strength and power in femininity. There is so much beauty in using dance as a form of self expression. I am an artist, and my hands create, but now my body is art in and of itself.

So, with all of this said, I made a pledge to myself and my sensuality. I hope you will too.

I Give Myself Full Permission to be a Lusciously Sensual Woman and to Have as Much Pleasure as Possible in Every Way that I Desire!

What moments do you feel the most sensual and beautiful? Tell me about them below!

Take time to look at the moments your body allows you to be the best version of yourself. Use pictures of bodies doing what seems like the impossible to inspire you to do the same, not to feel envious or unworthy. Show your body the love it deserves and celebrate your sensuality.

Sacred Rituals with Yoni Wands

Hey y’all!

I’m back with a new crystal obsession. Last night, I spent the Full Moon saging our home and a cleansing bath meditation/ritual. That inspired me to bring my new obsession to the blog.

As with most things, I first learned about Yoni Wands from a book. Crystal Healing & Sacred Pleasure is one of my favorite crystal books in the world. It’s written by Vanessa Cuccia, the founder and creator of Chakrubs, a line of crystal wands. All crystal facts in this post are via her book. It’s an incredible resource. It also redirected my interest in crystal healing to the focus of sexuality and healing sexual trauma.

A few weeks ago, in this blog post, I spoke a bit about my intentions for this year being my focus on connecting to Divine Energy. I also spoke about my miscarriage and my need to reconnect with my womb.

If you haven’t read the post, let me just say, it’s not about working towards motherhood. It’s about reconnecting to the source of my creativity and sensuality after feeling a sense of betrayal and disappointment in myself and my body.

That experience caused such a disconnect between me and my femininity. It affected how I viewed myself and my body, put me into a deep depression and stifled my expression through movement and sensuality.

In an effort to heal those wounds, I decided to take the information I’ve read in Vanessa’s book and purchase the healing Yoni Wands. (Because of the busy holiday, the wands I wanted with Chakrubs were sold out. So I went an alternative route.)

I purchased one wand made of Obsidian. This stone is created from volcanic lava as it cools. It is know for protecting and removing blockages.

Chakra: Root // Releasing

Benefits of Obsidian via Vanessa Cuccia

Rose Quartz

The second is made of Rose Quartz. As most people know, Rose Quartz is a stone that radiates unconditional love. What better way to connect to oneself than with the stone of love?

Chakra: Heart // Healing

Benefits of Rose Quartz Via Vanessa Cuccia
